Ronald McDonald House Charities® of South Louisiana

When sick or injured children are sent to New Orleans-area healthcare providers, families are often uprooted at a moment’s notice to an unfamiliar city with little support. Ronald McDonald House Charities® of South Louisiana has provided needed support to these families for 35 years by offering a comforting home environment, meals, transportation, and the opportunity to find comfort in sharing their experiences with parents going through similar difficult situations.

While it costs around $75 to house a family for one night, we ask only for a suggested donation of $10 per night from our families. Given the enormous costs of their child’s medical care, only about a third of our guests are able to pay anything at all; however, no one is ever denied a stay at the Ronald McDonald House due to their inability to pay.

Our 15 bedroom facility provides room, board, and transportation to over 500 families of ill or injured children each year, saving families an average of $1,700 per 10-day stay. Our services allow parents to focus their resources on healing their child, not on where to stay, what to eat, or how to get around an unfamiliar town.
